Have you ever waited for something so long you started to wonder if it would ever happen? For many years, God’s people waited for the Savior He had promised. The prophets who wrote about Him were even curious themselves, searching for clues about when and how it would all happen. Today’s passage shows us that God had a rescue plan all along, and He fulfilled it perfectly through Jesus.
Bible Focus
1 Peter 1:10–12 (ESV) – “This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward.
They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels were eagerly watching these things happen.”
Devotional Thoughts
Long before Jesus came to earth, God gave His people promises about a coming rescue. The prophets studied these promises carefully, searching for clues about when and how it would happen. They were looking for the one God had been pointing to all along.
Even though they didn’t know exactly when or how it would come, they kept trusting that God’s plan was good. They wrote things they didn’t fully understand, knowing that someone greater was coming after them.
Today, we get to see what they were waiting for. Jesus came to make us right with God, rescuing us from sin through His suffering and victory. He died on the cross and rose again, and that changes everything. This reminds us that our salvation is not an accident. It has always been part of God’s perfect rescue plan.
