If you’ve spent any time in Galatians 5, you’re probably familiar with the list it provides. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Paul calls it the fruit of the Spirit, and it’s easy to read that list as nine things we’re supposed to try harder at.

But that’s not actually what Paul is saying. Fruit doesn’t grow because a branch works really hard to be productive. Fruit grows because the branch is connected to the vine. The fruit of the Spirit isn’t a checklist for kids to master. It’s what naturally starts to show up in a life that’s connected to Jesus.

That’s why I made this set.

What’s in the set

Nine coloring pages, one for each fruit of the Spirit, each one paired with Galatians 5:22-23. Instead of just handing a kid a list of words, every page gives them a picture to think about. A family standing together for love. Two kids sharing a toy for kindness. A boy praying before bed for faithfulness. Something simple enough for little hands to color, but clear enough that the concept actually sticks.

I built these the same way I build everything for Discipleship Cliff. Simple, gospel-centered, and made for families who want to have real conversations with their kids without needing hours of prep time.

One thing I’d encourage as you use these with your kids: keep the question pointed at Jesus, not just at behavior. Instead of only asking “Were you patient today?” try asking, “Where did you see Jesus being patient with you today, and how does that change how you treat your brother or sister?” The goal isn’t better-behaved kids who memorized a few Bible verses. It’s kids who start to see that real change comes from staying close to Jesus, not from trying harder on their own.

How to use it

There’s no wrong way to work through these, but here are a few that work well:

One page a week. Print a new fruit every Sunday and let it lead into a short conversation at dinner or before bed. What does this word mean? Where did we see it (or not see it) in our family this week?

A Sunday school or kids church unit. Nine pages lines up nicely with a nine week series on Galatians 5, whether you’re teaching a small group or leading your own kids at home.

Quiet time, anytime. Sometimes you just need something for little hands to do while you’re having a conversation.
