Anxiety in kids doesn’t always look the way we expect, and it doesn’t always come with an easy explanation. What matters isn’t figuring out exactly why they’re worried. It’s knowing where to take it.
These 10 verses show kids a God who invites their fears instead of brushing past them. Read them together, ask the question that follows each one, and let your child see that Scripture has something real to say to what they’re feeling.
1. Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
What’s something you’re worried about that you haven’t prayed about yet?
2. 1 Peter 5:7
“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
Talk about one worry you’re carrying, then pray together and ask God to help you through it.
3. Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”
What’s something far off that you’re worrying about today?
4. Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Draw a picture of something that scares you, then write this verse next to it.
5. Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Has there been a time God helped you feel less afraid?
6. Joshua 1:9
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Talk about one place or situation where you need extra courage this week.
7. Psalm 56:3
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
What could you say to yourself the next time you feel scared?
8. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
What’s different about the peace Jesus gives compared to just having a good day?
9. Psalm 94:19
“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”
What’s one worry you’re carrying that you haven’t told anyone about?
10. Romans 8:38-39
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Journal about a time you felt far from God, then write this verse underneath it.

Fear and anxiety don’t disappear after one conversation. They loosen their grip a little more each time we bring them to God, the same way Scripture calls us to walk by faith and not by sight, one step at a time.
