Whether you’re around the dinner table, in the car, or sitting on a beach, these short Bible-based family discussions will help you plant Gospel-seeds that last all year long.
Week Three: Kindness on the Run
Bible Focus
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.“
Kindness isn’t just about being nice—that’s part of it, for sure. But kindness is about showing the same grace and compassion that Jesus has shown us. Ephesians 4:32 reminds us that our kindness flows from the forgiveness and love we’ve received in Christ. Just like we can love because God loved us, we can also show kindness to others because God was kind to us.
Summer often feels like a strange mix of fast and slow. Some days are packed with trips, errands, or activities, while others feel wide open. But whether you’re rushing to baseball practice, running errands, or grabbing ice cream with the kids, there are countless small ways to live out kindness on the run.
You don’t have to wait for a perfect, quiet moment to be kind. In fact, it’s often in those “in-between” spaces—on the go, in the car, at the store—that our kids can see how real kindness looks in everyday life. Jesus-shaped kindness fits into even the busiest parts of summer.
Discussion Questions:
What does it mean to be kind?
Can you think of a time someone showed you kindness when you didn’t expect it?
What stops us from showing kindness?
How does thinking about Jesus’ kindness to us motivate us to be kind to others?
Where is one place you go this week where you could show kindness on the run?
Family Activity: Kindness on the Run

Pick one activity this week–a grocery store, playground, swimming pool, post office–and do one intentional act of kindness as a family. Say something encouraging, leave a note, or pay for someone’s coffee. Talk about the experience as a family!
