Jesus is King – A Parent-Driven Discussion
Hey parents! Palm Sunday is just around the corner, and it’s one of those moments in the church calendar that gives us a natural, built-in opportunity to talk with our kids about who Jesus really is. This month’s discussion centers on the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem, a moment full of excitement, expectation, and meaning that still speaks to us today. I hope this sparks a great conversation around your table.
Bible Focus
Matthew 21:8–9 (ESV)
“Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!’”
Devotional Thoughts
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, people welcomed Him like a king. They laid palm branches and cloaks on the road and shouted praises. They believed Jesus was the promised Savior God had sent.
But Jesus wasn’t the kind of king people expected. Instead of coming with armies and power, He came with humility and peace. Just a few days later, He would go to the cross to save people from their sins.
And Jesus is still reigning as King today. When we trust Him, follow His words, and live for Him, we’re saying that He really is our King.
