If you’re like me, you’re always looking for thoughtful questions to spark meaningful conversations with your kids. A good discussion builds a connection and guides your children on their discipleship journey. This week’s focus is on Telling the Truth–an important skill in spiritual growth and family life. Use these questions during family devotions, at the dinner table, or whenever you’re gathered together.

Bible Focus

Ephesians 4:25 “Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.

Telling the truth is one of the most important ways we reflect God’s character. In a world where it’s easy to hide the truth or bend it just a little, our kids need reminders that honesty matters—not just because it’s the right thing to do but because we belong to one another in Christ. These questions will help your family think about how truthfulness builds trust, deepens relationships, and honors God.

Discussion Questions

  1. Why is telling the truth so important?

2. Can you think of a time when telling the truth was difficult?

3. How does telling the truth help you and your family to trust each other?

4. Our Bible verse tells us that followers of Jesus are “members of one another.” What do you think that means for us?

5. How does telling the truth help us with our relationship with God and our relationship with our family?

Family Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for being a God of truth. Please help us to be honest in everything we do and say. When we’re tempted to cover up the truth, give us the courage to be honest. And when we lie, help us come to you, confess our sin, and make things right. Thank you for loving us and forgiving us. Amen.

Try This

Truth Circle—Have everyone sit in a circle. Each person shares something truthful about their day—one thing that they did well and one thing that they struggled with. Discuss how it feels to be honest about our successes and mistakes.
